Sodium Hypochlorite Facility
Louisville Water Company
Louisville Water Company has joined other water facilities in eliminating the use of chlorine gas in the treatment of water and wastewater. Chlorine gas is highly explosive and dangerous when exposed to the atmosphere. The Sodium Hypochlorite Facility produces chlorine from sodium and other elements without the risk of chlorine gas exposure. Pace Contracting constructed the new Sodium Hypochlorite Facility at the B.E. Payne Water Treatment Plant in 2014. The site work, concrete work, and mechanical piping and process equipment installation were self-performed by Pace Contracting personnel and the project was completed on-time and within the Louisville Water Company budget.
